Cheechoo gold project in Eeyou Istchee Baie-James
Through this envelope, the Government of Québec is providing financial assistance of $600,000 to Sirios Resources Inc. for the improvement of the access road to the Cheechoo gold project in Eeyou Istchee Baie-James. The work aims to enhance the existing access road to allow year-round passage for vehicles and trucks in an area of interest for mining exploration. Sirios Resources will also invest $600,000 in the project, which accounts for half of the total funding needed, amounting to $1.2 million.
In addition to facilitating exploration activities for Sirios Resources Inc., the improvement of the access road will pave the way for new development projects in the Nord-du-Québec region. The work will positively impact workforce mobility and improve safety at the Cheechoo site. Moreover, the project will enhance access to the territory for the Cree community of Wemindji. Construction began in August 2025 and is expected to be completed in fall 2025.
