MONTREAL, Oct. 3, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - On October 14, 2012 a groundbreaking festival will be back at Espace Reunion to pick-up where it left off last year. Participants can expect to see the most dynamic members from the Montreal Jewish community and abroad, including Andy Nulman, Richard Marceau, Mitch Melnick, Robby Hoffman, Daniel Sieradski and Evan Kleinman, Emmy-nominated producer of the film Punk Jews. A closing comedy roast, hosted by Joey Elias, plans to lovingly-grill the Montreal Jewish community.
Le Mood encourages participants to explore and connect with Jewish life in an unexpected, meaningful way. The festival brings together art, culture and learning in one space. "Last year more than 800 participants expressed a desire for inclusivity and exploration. The festival sent great waves of energy throughout the community," said Mike Savatovsky, event organizer.
Titles like: "Crossing the Line, Then Spitting On It", "Ahoy-vey! Jewish Pirates of the Carribean" or "…But I'm Not religious" are among the 100+ sessions planned, nearly double last year's total. Le Mood offers a hard-hitting line-up of workshops that present alternative perspectives on Jewish traditions. "Religion has to be relevant to the individual, otherwise it's just a collection of meaningless symbols. The roots of Jewish traditions are vital, but how they blossom in the mind of the individual is what we're hoping to explore", said Stephen Bronfman, event supporter and philanthropist.
Inspired by the original Limmud (Hebrew for "learning") festival taking place annually in England for the past 30-years, Le Mood joins the growing family of festivals with similar names taking place in more than 28 countries.
