SYDNEY MINES, NS, Sept. 11, 2025 /CNW/ - Parents of children who attend Munro Academy Early Learning Centre (MAELC) will march to the Unifor Local 4600 picket line at 2 School Street in Sydney Mines, N.S. to show their support for the Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) on strike for fair pay.
"When we received word that a large group of parents planned to come out to show their support, the ECEs were overjoyed," said Unifor Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer Murray. "We have some surprises planned to welcome the families, and to show our appreciation for the love and kindness they are showing these hardworking educators."

The 23 ECEs at Munro Academy have been on strike since Monday, September 8 as they stand up against the employer's demand to schedule reduced hours. All other Unifor-represented, not-for-profit day cares in Cape Breton schedule consistent 40-hour weeks for their ECEs.
