8 in 10 Canadians struggle with new gift ideas, says new poll

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 25, 2016 /CNW/ - According to a recent Ipsos poll, 79% of Canadians have a tough time coming up with new gift ideas year after year for family and friends. Additionally, nearly three in four Canadians report that finding a gift people will like is a chore.

Among the toughest gifts to purchase are those in the lowest price ranges, with most Canadians (8 in 10) reporting they have a hard time finding a gift for $10

With this in mind, there has never been a better time to give a gift from the World Vision Gift Catalogue.  New this year are $10 gifts like crop seeds for farmers, sports balls and school essentials.  These gifts are perfect for teachers, stocking stuffers or gift exchanges.  With so many gifts to choose from, there's something for everyone and gift-givers can know their gifts are making a lasting impact for families around the world.

"We know that finding great gifts is a challenge, especially lower priced gifts.  Our new $10 offers are perfect options for shoppers needing to pick up something modest.  While the price tag is small, the impact these gifts have for children and families lasts well past the Holiday season."

Background Information:

These are some of the findings of an Ipsos poll conducted between October 11 and October 14, 2016, on behalf of World Vision. For this survey, a sample of 1,000 Canadians from Ipsos' online panel were interviewed online. Weighting was then employed to balance demographics to ensure that the sample's composition reflects that of the adult population according to Census data and to provide results intended to approximate the sample universe. The precision of Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval.  In this case, the poll is accurate to within +/ - 3.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20, had all Canadian adults been polled. The credibility interval will be wider among subsets of the population. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error, and measurement error.
