MONTREAL, June 1, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The 3rd Annual Urban BBQTM, the most important fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Research Society, was held on May 25 with over 800 attendees from the Montreal business and artistic communities. Presented by RBC Royal Bank, this event held at Windsor Station raised $425,000 to fund innovative cancer research projects in Canada.

"RBC is honoured to support important causes, like cancer research, which is the only way we can treat the disease," stated Martin Thibodeau, President, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank, and Honorary President for the Urban BBQTM. "We view health as a priority and because of this we support this cause, both financially and voluntarily, with the aim of raising as much money as we can to fund the best research projects in Canada."

Hosting the Urban BBQTM for a third consecutive time, spokesperson for the Cancer Research Society Stéphane Rousseau explained his motivation for being so involved with the cause. "Last year, my best childhood friend lost his battle with cancer. This reminds me that the fight is far from over. This is why I am connected with this event to raise funds for cancer research and to provide hope for the thousands of Canadians with this disease."

The Cancer Research Society thanks its partners RBC Royal Bank, Bell, RBC Wealth Management, Holand Automotive Group, FCT, Gowling WLG, Alre Properties, Groupe Desgagnés, BDO, JCB General Contractors, The Tenaquip Foundation, Groupe Marcelle/Lise Watier, Le Groupe Maurice, L'Oréal/La Roche-Posay, Osler, and Speigel Sohmer.
