Champlain and Jacques Cartier Bridges: Video and photos summary of work carried out in 2012 - Efficient BLITZES on the bridges

LONGUEUIL, QC, Dec. 19, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) invites you to watch two video capsules showing the major work carried out on its network in 2012, in the Champlain Bridge corridor and on the Jacques Cartier Bridge.

To reduce the impacts of necessary weekend closures as part of the bridges' maintenance program, significant efforts were made to concentrate several worksites, day and night, by carrying out work blitzes in the spring and summer.

It was a bold program that required close coordination with the contractors involved, and made it possible to reduce the amount of weekend closures from ten to three in the Champlain Bridge corridor. The program also made it possible to repave the entire Jacques Cartier Bridge in less than six days during the construction holiday, with approximately 4,870 tons of asphalt laid. More than 100 workers were involved in this work every weekend.

Throughout the year, our team had the chance to visit worksites across our network. These visits were predominately conducted at night and over the weekends during the major work BLITZ. We invite you to see below five of the most striking photos selected by our team, which best represent the major worksites carried-out on our bridges in 2012.
