CaRMS Welcomes Irving Gold as New Vice-President

OTTAWA, June 27, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) is pleased to announce that Irving Gold has joined the organization in the new position of Vice-President, effective July 8, 2013.

Mr. Gold comes to CaRMS with a wealth of experience in the medical education community, including close to eight years as Vice President, Government Relations and External Affairs at the Association of Faculties of Medicine Canada (AFMC). In this position, Mr. Gold provided policy analysis and development, as well as government relations and communications expertise, while also overseeing the Association's suite of e-learning projects.

"Irving brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role, and will be a tremendous enhancement to the CaRMS management team," said CaRMS Executive Director / CEO Sandra Banner. "He will also be an invaluable asset as we seek to expand our community and stakeholder relations activities."

Mr. Gold's extensive background in knowledge transfer and exchange included tenure as Director with the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation as well as work with the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Analysis (CHEPA) at McMaster University. He has a successful history of building evidence-based decision capacity and bringing communities of knowledge together.

Mr. Gold has served on several boards and advisory committees.  He created and was the inaugural chair of the Canadian Research Transfer Network in the 1990s, and was the inaugural chair of the Canadian Obesity Network, a Networks of Centres of Excellence New Initiative.

The Canadian Resident Matching Service is a not-for-profit organization that works in close cooperation with the medical education community, medical schools and residents/students to provide an electronic application service and a computer match for entry into postgraduate medical training throughout Canada. CaRMS strives to ensure the highest standards of fairness, transparency and client service throughout its electronic application and matching process. It also provides comprehensive data collection, analysis and research that supplies timely intelligence to health policy decision-makers.
