YMP Toronto's Mining Cares Raises $190,420 for COVID-19 Response
TORONTO, May 19, 2020 /CNW/ - Young Mining Professionals Toronto ("YMP Toronto") is pleased to announce that its Mining Cares initiative has raised $190,420 for the United Way Greater Toronto ("UWGT") COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
Generous donors of YMP Toronto raised $95,210, with YMP Toronto matching the first $5,000 of donations. All of these funds were matched by Polar Asset Management and other leaders in the asset management sector resulting in an overall total of $190,420. All donations will be invested in the community to help those most affected by COVID-19.
YMP Toronto, through its Mining Cares initiative, is engaging the mining industry at large, including its corporate partners and young people, in a coordinated effort aimed at providing much needed assistance to those who are most vulnerable to the effects of COVID-19. YMP Toronto is a proud partner of UWGT and 100% of the funds raised go directly to the UWGT COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
The funds raised through Mining Cares would not be possible without the support from the mining industry and members of YMP Toronto. YMP Toronto would like to thank the following corporate donors for their ongoing support of the UWGT: Alamos Gold Inc., Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, Franco-Nevada Corporation, IAMGOLD Corporation, Evolution Mining Limited, CIM Toronto and Polar Asset Management.
