YANGAROO and MTV Networks Music Group Enter Agreement
MTV Networks Adopts YANGAROO'S DMDS 5.0 for Video Workflows
TORONTO, April 15 /CNW/ - YANGAROO Inc. (TSX-V: YOO, OTC: YOOIF), the industry's leading secure digital media distribution company, has signed a multi-year agreement with MTV Networks (MTVN), a division of Viacom International Inc. (the "Agreement").
Under the Agreement, MTV Networks Music Group will begin utilizing YANGAROO's Digital Media Distribution System (DMDS) to have artist and music-related audiovisual content delivered to certain MTVN properties and to integrate DMDS into the company's internal workflow. MTV Networks Music Group includes music video channels MTV, MTV2, VH1, VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul, and Country Music Television (CMT) and CMT Pure.
Under the Agreement, the music channels and YANGAROO will work together to both integrate DMDS with MTVN's systems and to promote the utilization of DMDS by others to send content digitally to MTVN and other destinations. Initially, MTV Networks will utilize YANGAROO's DMDS in the United States with MTVN having the option to extend its utilization of DMDS to other territories throughout the term of the Agreement.
"By implementing YANGAROO's cutting-edge DMDS 5.0 platform, we hope to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of our music video delivery process while significantly reducing its environmental impact," said Emilienne Gray, Sr. Vice President, MTV360 & VH1 Music Programming and Strategy.
"We are very proud to have forged this alliance with MTV Networks," said John Heaven, President and CEO, YANGAROO. "We believe this agreement establishes DMDS as the world standard for the digital delivery of television broadcast-quality music video content via the Internet and, ultimately, for the delivery of a variety of other digital content to broadcasters. To have MTV Networks, one of the world's leading entertainment companies adopt our DMDS solution is very gratifying. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with them."
YANGAROO'S technology team worked closely with the MTVN engineers to refine the DMDS process for digitally distributing SD and HD television broadcast-quality video to integrate with and enhance MTVN's workflows. DMDS also transcodes the television broadcast file for online availability for streaming and provision of a frame-accurate preview quality version of the file with the time-code burned in, which improves reviewing and editing processes. The television broadcast-quality video file can be easily integrated into Online Editing Suites, On-Air Playback Servers and stored in a Digital Archive Server. These files are 50mbit IMX in an MXF OP1a container that maintain both time-code and closed captioning for the underlying video.
