Taste of Toronto to become the city's best outdoor food experience,
launching at Fork York July 24 - 27
TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2014 /CNW/ - This summer, Taste of Toronto will bring the excitement of 'one of the world's greatest restaurant festivals' (Time Magazine) to North America for the first time at the Fort York National Historic Site, July 24 to July 27. Featuring specially created menus and exclusive opportunities with the city's most acclaimed chefs, the inaugural four-day festival will offer Torontonians a new and exciting food experience, distinguishing itself from other local culinary events.
An international sensation, IMG's Taste Festivals are held in 20 cities around the world including London, Sydney, Cape Town, Milan, Dubai and Moscow.

Much more than a sampling event, Taste of Toronto invites guests to engage with top chefs and enjoy live food demonstrations, chef Q&As, interactive cooking classes, expert wine tastings, live music and other entertainment.

Participating local restaurants will present the city's foodies with twists on the tastes they love, with each chef creating three new dishes for the event. Confirmed participants for Taste of Toronto include Mark McEwan of McEwan Group, Stuart Cameron of Patria and Weslodge, Carl Heinrich of Richmond Station, Grand Electric's Colin Tooke, Ben Heaton of The Grove, David Neinstein of Barque Smokehouse, and Damon Campbell of Bosk, with more to be announced soon.
"Taste of Toronto brings local restaurants and chefs together to create a one-of-a-kind weekend," said Meghan O'Hanlon, director, Taste Festivals. "We want to champion Toronto's food scene by creating an event that celebrates everything we love about food in this city."
Visitors can purchase signature small plates from the participating restaurants and sip, sample and shop in the festival market where nearly 50 local producers will sell their wares. Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar and other international chefs to be announced soon will further engage guests through retail pop-ups, talks, workshops and cooking classes.
"Following the success this event has had in other cities around the world, we knew Toronto was the perfect location for Taste's North American debut, given its constantly booming and evolving food scene," said Sam Galet, vice-president, managing director, IMG Canada. Taste of Toronto will host six, four-hour sessions for ticket holders, spanning both lunch and dinner. Tickets for each session will be on sale in late March, starting at $25 for a standard ticket.
