WISE Invites Nominations for the 2015 WISE Prize for Education
The submissions period is open until March 31, 2015
DOHA, Qatar, Feb. 4, 2015 /CNW/ - The selection process for the 2015 WISE Prize for Education has begun. Now in its fifth year, the WISE Prize for Education is the first global recognition of an individual or team for an outstanding contribution to education. The WISE Prize raises the status of education by giving it similar prestige enjoyed in other fields for which international prizes exist - such as literature, peace, and economics.

The WISE Prize for Education recognizes an inspiring, visionary approach as well as a proven track record of achievement in education at any level, field, or sector.
Nominations can be made by individuals or institutions - including schools, international organizations and private companies - from anywhere in the world.
Submissions must be made through the WISE website http://www.wiseprizeforeducation.org by March 31. Nominations will be reviewed by an international committee of education experts. The final selection will be made by a high-level Jury of distinguished individuals chaired by H.E. Sheikh Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Chairman of WISE.
Commenting on the opening of the nomination period, Dr. Al-Thani said: "Our WISE Prize for Education Laureates are all individuals whose passion, energy, and commitment have been an inspirational force for good in the world of education. And they are not alone. The WISE Prize has focused international attention on the crucial importance of education in building strong, prosperous societies. I very much look forward to identifying the 2015 WISE Prize for Education Laureate."
The WISE Prize for Education Laureate, who receives a gold medal and $500,000 (US), will be announced at the World Innovation Summit for Education, one of the largest gatherings of leading education innovators, taking place November 3-5, 2015, in Doha, Qatar.

The WISE Prize Laureates are inspiring role models for all those concerned with building the future of education as the foundation for a more secure, prosperous, and sustainable world.
The 2014 WISE Prize for Education was presented to Ms Ann Cotton, Founder and President of Camfed (UK), by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation. Camfed has spearheaded an internationally acclaimed model for girls' education which has transformed opportunities for millions in marginalized communities across Africa.
The 2013 WISE Prize for Education Laureate is Ms Vicky Colbert of Colombia. Ms Colbert is co-creator of the Escuela Nueva educational model which places children at the heart of the learning process, and brings together teams of experienced teachers from rural areas to maximize the impact of education.
In 2012 Dr. Madhav Chavan of India won the WISE Prize for Education. He is Co-Founder and CEO of Pratham, the largest education NGO in India, bringing basic education to millions of underprivileged children -including computer literacy, vocational training, and special programs for vulnerable and working children.
The 2011 WISE Prize for Education Laureate is Sir Fazle Hasan Abed of Bangladesh. He is Founder of BRAC, one of the largest non-governmental providers of education in the world. BRAC has contributed directly to the education of millions of students in Bangladesh and several other countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
