WIND Mobile finds new uses for old wireless contracts: Origami and paper

Introduces new $150 porting credit to help Canadians make the switch
TORONTO, March 19 /CNW/ - On the heels of a study which revealed that WIND Mobile is the top-cited brand for consumers when considering a wireless switch, WIND has launched a $150 porting credit offer to assist Canadians to make a move to Canada's newest national provider.
The WIND Mobile offer, activated at a downtown Toronto event today, was fashioned as a 'contract carnival', and took a cheeky view at cumbersome wireless contracts, by inviting Canadians to turn their contracts into creative art - origami and paper airplanes - to illustrate that consumers should stop feeling trapped by contracts and utilize the new Wind offer to make the switch.
"For too long, Canadians have felt trapped in their wireless contracts," said Anthony Lacavera, Chairman, Globalive and WIND Mobile. "We are helping Canadians find creative uses for their old contracts - from origami to paper airplanes - and giving them the offer they need to make the switch to Wind Mobile today."
The study commissioned by WIND Mobile and conducted by TNS, revealed that half (49 per cent) of Canadians surveyed have a wireless contract with one year or more remaining. When asked which carrier they were interested in switching to, WIND had the highest score (at 15 per cent), among all mobile users.
The new offer will provide a $150 credit to customers who switch to WIND Mobile by March 31, 2010 and is the latest example from the upstart wireless company of listening to customer feedback. "Even before we launched we have been asking Canadians want they want in a wireless company and we are building our business everyday with that feedback," added Lacavera. "We're proud to deliver this offer - it's exactly what our customers have been asking for and is a great example of the kind of customer-focused response we're delivering in our first few months in market."
The WIND Mobile experience includes the following features: No activation fees No contracts No system access fees No fees for Enhanced 911 services No charge for incoming text No charge for incoming long distance calls No penalties for changing or cancelling a plan Unlimited WIND to WIND calling across the country Unlimited province-wide and Canada-wide calling from any WIND city All plans include caller ID, missed call alerts, call waiting, call hold, call forwarding, unlimited conference calling - all at no extra charge.
About the Study
The survey, which was conducted after WIND's first six weeks in market, included 714 respondents 16-65 years of age who have a mobile phone, in the Toronto and Calgary markets.
