Western Life Complies with FICOM Order in British Columbia

HIGH RIVER, AB, Sept. 20, 2017 /CNW/ - Western Life Assurance Company has reviewed the order issued by the Superintendent of Insurance on September 13, 2017 and is fully complying with its terms.  The distribution partners impacted by the order have been notified. Western Life is no longer offering or selling group creditor insurance in the Province of British Columbia through the distributors that are the subject of the order.

"The fair treatment of our customers and compliance with our regulatory obligations are our top priorities," said Western Life President, Louise Mitchell. "We are concerned by what we read in the order and are launching an investigation so that we can ensure complete compliance by our distribution partners in the future."
