WEST VANCOUVER, BC, May 18, 2016 /CNW/ - On May 27 2016 Aquatica Submarines (aquaticasubmarines.com) will showcase its new manned submersible, capable of carrying three persons to a maximum depth of 500 feet. The Aquatica STINGRAY 500 provides astonishing underwater visibility through its acrylic spherical hull, and leverages recent innovations in electronics and software to provide safety, ease of operation and dramatically lower cost of ownership and operation than most other manned submersibles.
"Manned Submersibles have been unaffordable for a wide range of applications. With the Stingray 500 we will change that" said Harvey Flemming, President of Aquatica Submarines. "A manned underwater presence is frequently far superior than an indirect presence. There is a big difference between watching a screen on a computer, and actually being there. The Stingray 500 is the first manned submersible that is competitive, or sometimes less costly to operate, than many ROV's. (Remote Operated Vehicles)"
The Stingray 500 is designed to accommodate scientific research and engineering applications, as well as other commercial and recreation markets, and can be fitted with a wide range of underwater sensors and tools such as manipulator arms, HD cameras, and abundant lighting options.
"Surprisingly" says Flemming, "A lot of immediate interest in our submarines, is coming from the tourism industry. We are working with a variety of adventure tourism companies and will be able to offer underwater experiences to just about anyone. I think that will be an absolutely incredible experience".
Pricing and first deliveries of the Stingray 500, and other models, will be announced at the May 27th showcase.
