MEMBERS CAN NOW 'TAP THAT APP' TO GET THEIR MEMBER BENEFITS ON THE GO
TORONTO, Nov. 23, 2015 /CNW/ - Virgin Mobile Canada believes you can learn a lot about someone by taking a peek at their smartphone's home screen. The apps people pin to this valuable piece of real estate are those they simply can't live without. But, with limited space available, which apps make the cut? Today, Virgin Mobile Canada reveals new survey findings that share what you app-solutely need to know about Canadian mobile app habits.
Commissioned with Vision Critical, Virgin Mobile Canada's new survey uncovered that the majority of Canadians (68%) use between 1-5 apps on a daily basis. Two-thirds (67%) keep between one and ten apps on the home screen. These home screen apps, or "Homies" as coined by Virgin Mobile, are their most treasured. While there are an unlimited number of apps out there, the survey revealed that Canadians are most likely to download social (44%), entertainment (42%), music (34%) and travel apps (19%).
With the wisdom derived from this research and in an effort to claim this premium home screen space and become Canadians' newest "Homie", Virgin Mobile has packed all of its great Member Benefits into an app. Launching today, the new "My Benefits" app allows Virgin Mobile Members to browse, save, customize and redeem their favourite Member Benefits with just a few swipes and a tap. It's a Member's mobile pass to the VIP life.
"We'd love for Members to make our My Benefits app their newest Homie," said Joseph Ottorino, managing director, Virgin Mobile Canada. "Our Members have always received shots at VIP access and exclusive deals from the hottest brands in fashion, food, travel and entertainment, this app makes it easier for them to get hooked up while on the go."
Less Meh. More of what you love. With a ton of awesome personalization features, Members can customize the app's Spotlight home screen so they see more of the Benefits they want.
Always be in the know. Push Notifications keep Members in the loop on all new Benefits, while the Last Call feature sounds the alarm when certain Member Benefits are about to expire.
Redeeming qualities. Members can even save Benefits to their profile for easy-peasy redemption on the fly. Then, when they're out and about, they can use the Nearby feature to find the closest place to redeem their amazing offers.

ABOUT THE SURVEY
From October 28th to October 29th, 2015 an online survey was conducted among 1,513 randomly selected Canadian adults who are Angus Reid Forum panelists. The margin of error—which measures sampling variability—is +/- 2.5%, 19 times out of 20. The results have been statistically weighted according to education, age, gender and region (and in Quebec, language) Census data to ensure a sample representative of the entire adult population of Canada. Discrepancies in or between totals are due to rounding.
