Viking Gold - Winter drill program update
/NOT FOR DISSEMINATION IN THE UNITED STATES OR FOR DISTRIBUTION TO U.S. WIRE SERVICES/
TORONTO, May 3 /CNW/ - Viking Gold Exploration Inc. (VGC-TSX-V), hereafter "Viking Gold" or "the Company", has received assays from the six southern most drill holes of its nine hole, 2010 winter drill program. This program was conducted on Viking Gold's property, optioned from Peregrine Diamonds Ltd and located in the Narrow Lake section of the Company's Morris Lake Project, northwest of Yellowknife, NWT.
A preliminary evaluation of the assay results indicates anomalous values of gold, silver, arsenic, bismuth, lead, barium and tungsten, occurring in conjunction with electrically conductive and magnetic zones along a defined mineralized southwest trending zone of at least 2,200 meters in length. The Company concludes that the trending zone is an extension of the Ormsby mineralized deposit situated on Tyhee Development Corp.'s adjoining property to the north. The balance of the assay results are expected shortly.
The Company also reports that it has received the resignation of Mr. Robert Whittall, C.A., a member of its Board of Directors and Audit Committee. Mr. Whittall's guidance served the Company well and we wish him success in his future endeavors.
