AJAX, ON, Dec. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Veridian continues to make significant progress in its efforts to restore service to customers impacted by last weekend's severe ice storm. About 500 customers had their power restored overnight and into this morning in Ajax and Pickering. Approximately 500 customers in these two communities are currently without service.
Customers in the community of Orono had their power restored overnight after an upstream Hydro One issue resulted in a community-wide outage at about noon yesterday.

Crews are focusing their efforts today in some of the hardest hit areas of Ajax and north Pickering.

The repair or replacement of such equipment must be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor retained by the customer. Approved contractors can be found at http://applications.dmtispatial.com/esa/ or by calling ESA at 1-877-372-7233.
Customers are reminded to exercise extreme caution around damaged poles and downed wires. All fallen wires should be considered live and dangerous. Customers are urged to report the locations of fallen wires to Veridian's 24-hour Outage Hotline by calling 1-866-579-6819.
