UPS Canada Welcomes CETA and Canada's Agreement in Principle with the European Union
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Statement by Michael Tierney, President of UPS Canada on the Agreement in Principle Reached Between Canada and the EU.
UPS Canada applauds Canada and the European Union on reaching an agreement in principle on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) which will deliver strong economic and employment benefits for Canada.
UPS welcomes the recent announcement made by the federal government that Canada and the European Union (EA) have reached an important milestone by finalizing an agreement in principle. While the two trading partners currently enjoy strong economic cooperation, the formal partnership that will result from CETA once ratified will translate into substantial opportunities in trade and investment for Canadians. Small, medium and large enterprises across Canada will be exposed to new economic opportunities on the global stage, bringing with it the potential for considerable job creation and growth.
The elimination of tariffs is only the beginning of the good news for Canadian businesses. By addressing other barriers to international trade such as reducing red tape and creating more favourable business conditions, Canadian companies will be positioned for success on the world stage.
As the world's largest single market, the EU offers Canadian exporters a new frontier for opportunity and growth. UPS Canada looks forward to the agreement being finalized and seeing the benefits and opportunities that will be created for our customers, as well as increased prosperity for all Canadians.
