Small group tour led by leading Indian travel expert will visit Khajuraho Dance Festival and "Women's Holi"
TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2017 /CNW/ - Canadian travel writer and India travel specialist Mariellen Ward of the popular travel blog Breathedreamgo.com is leading a very special tour to India. The Shakti Tour (February 15 – 27, 2018) will explore the feminine in India and it will be timed to coincide with the Khajuraho Dance Festival and Lathmar Holi, also known as the Women's Holi, in Barsana.
"Shakti is the manifestation of feminine energy," said Mariellen Ward. "Indian culture is full of Shakti worship and representations, from Hindu goddesses like Parvati and Durga, to Shakti temples throughout the country, and festivals like Navaratri (nine nights of the goddess)."
The roots of Shaktism penetrate deeply into India's history. We will uncover that history by visiting special destinations and events, and with the help of cultural experts from Sahapedia, who will help shine a light on the meaning and significance of our experiences.
On this small group tour, we will go to some amazing places to visit in India:
- see Indian classical dance performed in front of some of the oldest and most beautiful temples in India at the Khajuraho Dance Festival
- partake in "Women's Holi," where women ritually beat men at Lathmar Holi in Barsana
- explore Jhansi fort, where the Rani (Queen) of Jhansi held off the British troops during the 1857 Rebellion
- go on a tiger safari
- stay at one of India's leading eco-lodges to experience the feminine in nature
- visit Sheroes Café in Agra, run by acid attack survivors
The itinerary also includes stops in Delhi, Agra, Jhansi, and Varanasi to uncover famous women in Indian history, and art and architecture designed by women.
The tour will be held February 15 – 27, 2018 and repeated in 2019.
