Celebrities Raise the Bar for 3rd Annual LE MOOD Festival of Unexpected Jewish Learning, Arts and Culture
MONTREAL, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - More than one-thousand participants are expected at Montreal's Third Annual LE MOOD Festival of Unexpected Jewish Learning, Arts and Culture, including Liberal Party Leader, Justin Trudeau, Canadian icon and environmental activist, Dr. David Suzuki, and former God Hates Fags girls, Grace and Megan Phelps-Roper.
"People have come to depend on the festival to meet them wherever they are on their Jewish journey," said Mike Savatovsky, LE MOOD Festival Director since its launch in 2011. "We have a responsibility to work with dedicated volunteers to challenge the possibilities and we're thrilled with the results."
This year's festival takes place all day Sunday, November 3rd at Espace Reunion, and features its hardest hitting line-up to-date, also including the Founder of the Occupy Judaism movement, Daniel Sieradski; Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Amal Elsana-Alh'jooj; the first halachic and spiritual female leader of the Jewish Orthodox world, Maharat Rachel Kohl Finegold; and nearly 200 more dynamic local and international presenters under one roof.
The festival also plays host to exciting new initiatives like the Ultimate Jewish Food Championship, a human library, and a unique closing comedy show starring Joey Elias in a live performance with some of Montreal's top Improv players.
LE MOOD brings together many prolific thinkers, performers and artists, including Jewish and non-Jewish friends alike, to share their diverse ideas about Jewish life. LE MOOD encourages participants to explore and connect with Jewish experiences in off-beat, personally meaningful and non-judgmental ways. The festival's poster features a Moody cartoon apple on a mountain-top holding digital Tablets and proclaiming, "Let My People Know!"
Inspired by the original Limmud (Hebrew for "learning") conference taking place annually in England for the past 30-years, LE MOOD is part of the growing family of 58 festivals with similar names taking place in 28 countries.
