GATINEAU, QC, April 26, 2019 /CNW/ - The Translation Bureau is solidifying its role as a centre of excellence for linguistic services while also supporting the government in its commitment to promoting official languages.
Today, Public Services and Procurement Canada, announced a new partnership between the Translation Bureau and the Canadian Association of Schools of Translation (CAST). This agreement will allow students from 10 Canadian universities that offer a bachelor's or master's degree in translation to gain practical translation experience under the guidance of a Bureau supervisor during a university term (12 weeks).
This is the third partnership agreement between the Translation Bureau and the language industry in 2019. In January, the Translation Bureau and the University of Saint-Boniface signed an agreement for a collaborative project in terminology. The Translation Bureau also signed a partnership agreement with the Association of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters of Manitoba (ATIM) to share part of the Bureau's corpus to train the students in the University of Saint-Boniface's mentoring program.
These partnerships support the language industry and help train the next generation of language professionals, which is an integral part of the Bureau's modernized vision.

- In the past year, the Translation Bureau has signed six collaborative agreements as part of its partnership strategy, which will enable it to implement best practices with external collaborators and develop language professionals' expertise and knowledge.
- The Translation Bureau offers translation, interpretation and terminology products and services to Parliament, the courts and federal departments and organizations, in both official languages and in over 100 Indigenous and foreign languages.
