Charity, Love146 honors Phan for her efforts to end child trafficking and exploitation
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., May 8, 2015 /CNW/ -- Last night, charity Love146, an international human rights organization working to end child trafficking and exploitation, honored award winning content creator and YouTube sensation, Michelle Phan with the Abolitionist in Action Award. In addition, Baume & Mercier gifted Phan with one of their new Promesse watches, (style #10166) which signifies a promise you hold close to your heart.
This cause is clearly one close to Phan's heart. In March 2014, she created and produced a video campaign titled #RememberTheGirl, to bring attention to the millions of girls around the world that are trafficked and enslaved. With a growing global community of over 7.5 million followers, Phan has already raised over $25,000 for Love146's mission and has encouraged thousands more to join the movement.
Phan accepted the award last night at Love146's annual gala held at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown, NY. Love146's Chairman, Rudy Chavez, who is also the President of Baume & Mercier North America, presented the award and the watch to Phan.
Chavez commented, "We are forever grateful to Michelle for using her public platform to educate her millions of followers about such an important cause. The relationship between Love146 and Michelle goes far beyond tonight, as she recently created a powerful video for Love146's Prevention Education Curriculum, which is now reaching thousands of young people in the US. I also thought this Baume & Mercier watch was a perfect gift to celebrate her award since it is called a Promesse. We inscribed on the back: 'For Michelle, and a Love that remembers', as we are inspired by her passion for Love146 and her vision to end child trafficking and exploitation."
