TORONTO, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - 2010 marks the 40th anniversary of the St Lawrence Centre for the Arts! We're planning a series of events and publications to showcase and commemorate the wealth of creative and artistic work that has been presented here. Also in the works is a book about the centre, and we need your help! Have you performed at the centre? Produced a play here? Built a set or sewn a costume? Come to a performance? If so, we want to hear from you!
We're looking for playbills, photos, posters, scripts, show notes and other ephemera from our resident companies listed below, as well as any of the other numerous companies, community groups and organizations that have performed here over the years. Also, we're looking for your stories - rehearsal anecdotes, behind the scenes stories and memorable encounters had here at the St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. Visit us at stlc.com and click on the 40th anniversary logo to share memories.
Owned by the city of Toronto, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts opened in 1970 as a Centennial project, and has been the scene of thousands of performances. The St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts is home to seven resident companies - The Canadian Stage Company; Music Toronto; Toronto Operetta Theatre; Opera in Concert; Hannaford Street Silver Band; Esprit Orchestra and the St. Lawrence Centre Forum. In addition to its resident companies, over 50 other arts and cultural groups make use of the centre annually.
