Toronto office buildings offer tenants free dedicated, fiber optic-based Internet services
– Epik Networks provides 15 select locations with the ability to help businesses cut costs –
TORONTO, July 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Fifteen select office buildings located in Toronto's financial district and the Yonge/Eglinton neighbourhood will now be able to offer their tenants free dedicated, fiber optic-based Internet services thanks to Epik Network's (Epik) On-Net Building Strategy.
Epik - one of the first entrants into the Hosted VOIP space in Canada – has wired these office buildings that are already on their hosted VoIP network with fiber optics. This allows them to bring in virtually unlimited bandwidth capacity to service the needs of tenants at speeds up to 1Gbps.
Once a tenant in any of these buildings signs on for voice services with Epik for 10 users or over, usually at a total cost of $300 - $500 per month, they will now also have 100 Mbps dedicated business grade Internet service for no extra charge. The average comparable in-market cost for this level of Internet service would be $500 - $1,000 per month from other providers.
With Bay Street office rental rates ranking as the highest in Canada and Toronto commercial rental space being among the third most expensive among Canadian cities, commercial tenants will no doubt welcome additional incentives that help lower the cost of doing business in the city.
"Business today can't run without Internet and building managers are just beginning to learn about the advantages of connecting their buildings and making that a selling feature," said Claudio Nespeca, VP Operations and Marketing for Epik Networks. "When a business looks at potential cost savings from a move or at the overall costs of a new location, traditionally, they didn't take into consideration the authorized providers of Internet in that building. However the technology component can make or break any savings."
A business may discover that in order to get a fiber optic connection into a building to meet their company's needs they need to spend tens of thousands of dollars. Epik's On-Net Building Strategy is changing that and giving business tenants more choice.
