The Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto, Canada
TORONTO, July 21, 2016 /CNW/ - From September 13 - 18 the world of sport will turn to Toronto where the summer season of the 2016 Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour draws to a close as, for the first time, the Tour's Finals come to town. And the top 10 men's and women's teams in the world are set to compete for the Tour finale's USD $500,000 prize.
Polson Pier offers a phenomenal location for the event, which overlooks the skyline on the shore of Lake Ontario.
"We are delighted and proud to come to such a marvelous city like Toronto," says Hannes Jagerhofer, CEO of the Beach Majors company. "Polson Pier offers one of the best sites of the FIVB World Tour, and will definitely set new standards that will make the Swatch Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals a spectacular and truly memorable event."
Being on home turf provides extra motivation for local heroes like Sarah Pavan. Together with her partner Heather Bansley, the Canadian duo finished second at the Poreč Major in Croatia and will be among the Finals favorites. "The fact that the biggest tournament of the FIVB season will be held at home is really exciting," said Pavan.
In the men's field, Canadian hopes rest on Ben Saxton and Chaim Schalk, bronze medalists at the Poreč Major earlier this summer.
Bell Media's TSN and Virgin Radio are Official Partnerd of the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto. TSN is set to broadcast the event, with the complete schedule to be released in the coming weeks.
