Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion Award honours organizations commitment to diversity
TORONTO, June 18, 2014 /CNW/ - The Toronto Central Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized with the inaugural "Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion Award" by the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) and Sodexo Canada. The award, which acknowledges organizational commitment to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace, was presented at the CCHL's National Awards Gala on June 1st.

In a recent Employee Engagement Survey at Toronto Central CCAC, 88 per cent of respondents said that people from diverse backgrounds felt welcome. In the same survey, 93 per cent of clients reported overall satisfaction with their care from Toronto Central CCAC – a clear indicator that the diversity reflected in this workplace is being positively received by clients. 88 per cent of staff reported that they are treated with respect, a 27 per cent increase in four years. The organization requires that employees participate in mandatory cultural competence training in order to enable a greater understanding of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Toronto Central CCAC is proud of all of its employees, many of whom exemplify the diversity that makes up the 23,000 clients that depend on the organization's services every day.
