TORONTO, May 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Toronto Argonauts wide receiver Chad Owens has launched a crowdfunding campaign on RaiseHope.org to raise money for a young boy with Metastatic Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that affects the nerves.
Marcus Baksh was diagnosed after falling during a hockey tournament with the Clarington Toros Minor Bantam 'A' Team. Marcus is currently undergoing his 3rd round of chemotherapy at SickKids.
"I told Marcus that when he gets through this we're gonna play one-on-one hockey," says Owens. "He smiled and said 'ok' with confidence. It's that confidence and determination that motivates me everyday to push myself. He's my training partner and he doesn't even know it."
In his campaign Owens offers up his time to hang out with donors by raffling off priceless one-on-one experiences like "Catch a Movie With Chad" or "2 Hour Workout Session With Chad". He is also offering brag-worthy social media perks like a personal Facebook shout out from Owens himself for $10 to a short video message for $50.
