Tony Melman and Belinda Stronach unite to form new business

TORONTO, May 24, 2012 /CNW/ - Dr. Anthony Melman and Belinda Stronach today announced that they have formed a partnership and established Acasta Capital Inc, a company that will harness the expertise and global reach of two of Canada's most prominent business leaders.

Throughout Tony's career in banking and private equity, he has created billions of dollars of value for investors and partners. Before spending 22 years at the core of Onex Corporation, he had been Senior Vice-President of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in charge of worldwide merchant banking, project financing, acquisitions and other specialized financing activities. Tony focuses on the strategic transformation of businesses to achieve increased growth and competitive positioning with financially strong sustainability. His experience in building and transforming a wide variety of companies spans multiple industries and geographies.

Tony is currently Chairman and CEO of Nevele Partners Inc. He is a director of some of Canada's most distinguished companies: Canadian Pacific Railway Limited and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), where he is chair of the Board Budget and Finance Committee. He has also served on boards of notable public and private companies and also not-for-profit organizations. He was most recently Chair of Baycrest (the global leader in developing and providing innovations in aging and brain health), where he now continues as a director.

Belinda Stronach has forged a unique position at the intersection of the private sector and public service, enabling her to bring to bear the invaluable experience, knowledge and relationships from both worlds. She is highly experienced in business as well as negotiating and working with governments to advance projects and policies in the public interest.

Belinda is currently Co-Chairman and President of The Stronach Group, a privately-held multi- billion dollar consortium that owns, operates and manages a number of leading businesses in a wide range of industries as well as premier development properties and real estate assets in North America and Europe. She has been Executive Vice-Chairman as well as President and CEO of Magna International Inc. Belinda served in public office as a twice-elected Member of Parliament and Canadian Minister of Human Resource and Skills Development at the Cabinet table.
