Born from collaboration, "Together We Are One" sure to become Games anthem
TORONTO, May 28, 2015 /CNW/ - The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) and Official Broadcaster CBC, are excited to announce the release of "Together We Are One," the official song of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. The song not only reflects the enthusiasm and camaraderie of the Games, but also represents the cultural pride of the 41 participating countries and territories.
The song, recorded by Canadian artist Serena Ryder, was chosen from among 70 submissions. The work came together through a collaborative process at Pan Am Songworks Camp, a workshop created by the Songwriters Association of Canada with funding from the TORONTO 2015 commission fund, which was created to seed new and innovative art projects. Songwriters from diverse backgrounds were grouped together and challenged to write and record a song with only suggested words, images and themes as their inspiration. From this collaboration, "Together We Are One" was born.
"'Together We Are One' unites everybody, regardless of who they're rooting for. It's their song. It's everyone's song," says Ryder.
The song was written by Murray Daigle (also the producer), Jasmine Denham and Bobby John, with a French adaptation by Diane Cadieux and a Spanish adaptation by Celia Palli. The French version is sung by Jasmine Denham and the Spanish version is sung by Eva Avila.
"The official song is but one example where we're elevating the Games from a sporting event to a celebration of the cultures of Toronto and the Americas," said Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer, TO2015. "In five or 10 years when fans think about the Games, it will be 'Together We Are One' they're hearing in their head."
The TORONTO 2015 Pan American Games will take place July 10–26 and the Parapan American Games August 7–15. The TORONTO 2015 Games are funded by the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, as well as Lead Partner CIBC and other partners and sponsors
The TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015) is tasked with managing and delivering the Games. It is working to bring some of the world's best athletes and artists to Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe region, giving Ontarians a unique chance to be part of the action, and making the region a hub for sport.

About Pan Am Songworks Camp
As one of the 28 works commissioned by the TORONTO 2015 commission fund to seed new and innovative arts projects, the Songwriters Association of Canada created the Pan Am Songworks Camp. This intensive multi-day workshop brought together established writers and mentors with emerging songwriters from various musical and cultural backgrounds to foster the creation of new works through collaboration. The ultimate goal of the Pan Am Songworks Camp was to help promote the songs created and the artist/songwriters who participated in the workshop.
