Thingyfy, Innovation Incubator, Launches E-commerce Shop Focusing on Honesty and Minimalism
TORONTO, June 29, 2018 /CNW/ - Thingyfy, the innovation incubator that's successfully launching incredible creations that meld tech and user experience, has launched Thingyfy Shop, its unique spin on how e-commerce should work.
"We're all about changing the game by coming up with new concepts that meet consumers' needs and wants before they're even aware they have them," says Boz Zou, co-founder and Chief Executive of Thingyfy.
"Thingyfy Shop is less of a conventional e-commerce platform than it is a living exhibition," he adds. "Our brand's goal is to bring honest products to fans. What is shopping if not a natural and intuitive extension of their engagement?"
Thingyfy Shop will offer many of the products recently developed and prototyped by the company on Kickstarter. These include its recently launched UMO modular 10W wireless charging station and accessory ecosystem. Utilizing the latest Qi technology, it is compatible with all mobile phone models, charging in a fraction of the time without overheating. And its starting price of $27 is half the cost of other stations that have less power.
Thingyfy Shop is set up to display products like UMO in a direct and straightforward way. There are no distracting upsell popups, calls-to-action or go-buy user flows. Similarly, the store requires no customer signups or log-ins – people can browse and load their shopping carts and pay at their leisure.
The idea is to make the shop an exhibition-style venue to browse and enjoy versus a commercial experience.
"Thingyfy Shop will be gradually transforming into a digital exhibition of products, ideas and experiences," says Kir Rostovsky, Creative Lead at Thingyfy.
Functionality is stressed: Thingyfy Shop enables interactions not previously seen on e-commerce platforms, like iOS-style swiping interactions and split screen checkouts. And the checkout process itself, featuring a simple, visual and intuitive shopping cart, mimics the streamlined offline experience. Product prices are displayed as a familiar printable receipt.
"We're not trying to manipulate users," Boz Zou adds. "Thingyfy Shop reflects our design philosophy of honesty and minimalism. In that spirit we'll solicit user feedback to help us grow and adapt."
