- Hibachi now available on Costco.ca -
MONTREAL, June 3, 2015 /CNW/ - ThermoCeramix Corporation ("ThermoCeramix", "TCX" or the "Company") (TSX Venture Exchange: TCX.V), a technology-licensing company engaged in the development of high-performance, energy-efficient electric heating solutions, announced today that it has expanded distribution of its Downtown Grill Electric Hibachi (the "Hibachi") and will now be offering the Hibachi through Costco.ca. Costco.ca is the second largest online retailer in Canada, generating $352 million in e-commerce revenues annually.
"The addition of the Hibachi to Costco's online catalogue is the culmination of a rigorous two-year process and is a significant milestone in our pursuit of large-scale commercialization of our electric grill," stated Louis Desmarais, CEO of ThermoCeramix. "Costco's reputation for carrying high-quality, trusted products for their members is a testament to the Hibachi's grilling capabilities and, in our belief, our innovative platform technology. We anticipate that Costco's loyal membership base will help us gain a more meaningful foothold with consumers across Canada while maintaining healthy margins on our product. We look forward to the potential opportunity of building on this initial agreement with Costco in the future."
The Hibachi utilizes ThermoCeramix's revolutionary heating technology. The technology's extraordinary conductivity allows the Hibachi to reach up to 700°F in less than 10 minutes without a lid, offering superior performance relative to most gas barbecues with their lids open. The Hibachi is lightweight, portable, and easy to store, and can be used outdoors and indoors, and is ideally suited for condominium and apartment buildings with open flame barbecue restrictions.
ThermoCeramix is focused on growing its retail and online presence to achieve large-scale commercialization of the Hibachi in the short-term. The Company is actively working on further expanding its distribution base, including extending current partnerships and securing new relationships with retailers and speciality stores across North America and Europe. ThermoCeramix anticipates that these efforts will help to accelerate mass-market validation of the Company's platform TCXTM technology, which in turn will provide a pathway to secure development and licensing deals with global aerospace, automotive and appliance manufacturers over the next few years.
In addition to Costco.ca, the Hibachi is also available at Amazon.ca, Canada's largest online retailer, Sur La Table, Frontgate.com, Shop.ca, and other independent and speciality distributors.
