MARKHAM, ON, Aug. 22, 2017 /CNW/ - The Sofina Foundation hosted its annual charity golf tournament, The Sofina & Amici Golf Classic on Thursday, August 3rd at the Eagles Nest Golf Club in Toronto. This year marked the event's 10th anniversary. A record $700,000 was raised in support of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as well as the Ronald McDonald Houses in Toronto and Edmonton.
The sold out event delivered on its promise to connect generous donors with worthy causes and featured celebrity chef Massimo Capra serving delicious pasta using Sofina products. Guests learned of the impact of their support through several video presentations as well as a first-hand account from a family that had been supported by both the Women & Babies Program and the Brain Sciences Program.
"We cannot be more proud of the Sofina Foundation for raising a record $700,000 in support of such phenomenal, life changing organizations," said Michael Latifi, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Sofina Foods Inc. "Over the years we have seen how our support directly benefits the lives of so many. The testimonials we receive each year from our partners are truly touching and continue to be our motivation."
This year's raised funds will go towards the construction of the Sunnybrook Health Science Centre's Youth Mental Health Program at the new Brain Sciences Centre. Additionally, funds will support the School at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto, as well as the Kitchen Redevelopment Project at the Ronald McDonald House in Edmonton.
"We are so thankful for the generosity and compassion from every individual that has given their time, support and enthusiasm that empowers us to support these wonderful organizations in the important work they do in our communities," added Umeeda Madhany, Vice President, Sofina Foundation. "I've had the privilege to witness first-hand the lasting impact these contributions have on the lives of so many children and their families.
