TORONTO, April 5, 2016 /CNW/ - The Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) Canada is pleased to announce the list of nominees for its second Canadian Best in Business competition, which recognizes outstanding business reporting published or broadcast in 2015.
The nominees represent some of Canada's most venerable news organizations, including Canadian Business, Vancouver Sun, Reuters Canada, Alberta Venture, The Globe and Mail, the Wall Street Journal's Canadian bureau, Maclean's and more.
This year's contest had a record number of entries, and publications from across Canada submitted their work. Journalists from places such as the Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Alberta Oil and Advisor.ca entered the Best in Business contest for the first time this year.
The nominated works reflect a diverse set of issues particular to Canadian business — from budget coverage and Bombardier news to Ashley Madison and real estate opportunities.

There are a total of 30 finalists in 10 categories, selected from more than 100 applicants from publications across the country. Categories include investigative, commentary, breaking news, investing and personal finance, features, multimedia, beat reporting, package and profile.

The Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) is a 50-year-old organization with more than 3,000 members across the globe. Journalists from the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, CNN and other organizations big and small are involved in the organization.
A group of Canadian journalists launched SABEW Canada, SABEW's first international chapter, in September 2014.
