MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - On the heels of a successful launch of their community investment program, Hyundai Hockey Helpers, today, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. is launching Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month, a month-long campaign dedicated to raising awareness and donations for under-resourced youth to get in the game of hockey. From October 1 to 31, the company is also hosting a contest open to all Canadians for a chance to win a brand new 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT.
"The successful launch of the Hyundai Hockey Helpers program in September has seen tremendous response from the communities across Canada," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "October marks Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month, and we're adding an incentive for Canadians to learn more about the program through a contest that will see one lucky Canadian drive away in a brand new Hyundai Elantra GT."
Hyundai Hockey Helpers is a new initiative designed to reinvest in communities across the country and improve the lives of deserving children by helping at least 1,000 under-resourced Canadian youth play hockey. In partnership with KidSport Canada, a not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance to kids ages 18 and under, the program provides grants for registration fees and equipment costs in order to lower the financial barriers that prevent youth from participating in organized sports.
The contest is merely one initiative contributing to Hyundai Hockey Helpers Month in Canada. Participating dealers across the country are actively conducting fundraising programs to help more kids get in the game. Additionally, Hyundai Hockey Helpers ambassadors and vehicles will travel to more than 90 hockey arenas from coast-to-coast to collect donations, reach families, and get them involved at the grassroots level.

Hyundai Auto Canada, established in 1983 and headquartered in Markham, Ontario, is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company of South Korea. Hyundai vehicles are distributed throughout Canada by Hyundai Auto Canada and are sold and serviced through more than 200 dealerships nationwide.
KidSport was established in 1993 because of an identified need by leaders in the sport community. They witnessed too many children on the sidelines because of financial barriers. Since that time, KidSport is going strong throughout Canada with over 170 local community volunteer chapters in 11 provinces and territories.
