QUÉBEC, Oct. 20, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - 25 years after the creation of its educational activities, The National Battlefields Commission (NBC) celebrated the visit of its one millionth group participant this morning. The students of Mr. Bouchard's class from the Marguerite-Bourgeoys elementary school in La Cité-Limoilou experienced a special conclusion to their activities at the Plains of Abraham Museum. The 60 elementary school students were grinning from ear to ear when a contemporary military officer unveiled a cake and Plains-themed gifts to mark this special occasion.
- A leader in period presentations, the Plains of Abraham offers the opportunity to discover its rich heritage through dynamic and interactive activities to over 75 000 participants in 2000 groups every year. Group activities have developed alongside the educational program and visitors' needs. From 1560 participants in 1992, today we have reached a milestone of 1 000 000 group visitors. We now offer more than 50 educational presentations and fun activities to elementary and secondary school students, playgrounds, daycares and adult groups at the park, in the classroom and by videoconference.
- The Plains of Abraham Museum is the gateway to the park and offers a variety of exhibits, activities for the general public and group visitors and all information relating to the park. By virtue of its historic, commemorative and urban design, The Battlefields Park is Québec's central gathering site. The country's first national historic park includes, among other features, the Plains of Abraham and Des Braves Park. The National Battlefields Commission oversees its preservation and development
