QUÉBEC, June 16, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Creativity, innovation and excitement were in the air at Québec City's Palais Montcalm as the 18th edition of the OSEntreprendre Gala paid tribute to its provincial prizewinners. Throughout the evening, hosted by Charles Lafortune, 600 guests were inspired by the energy, enthusiasm and courage of a diverse and dynamic generation of entrepreneurs from the 17 regions of Québec.
An array of 33 provincial prizes were awarded (see attached list), representing a total value of nearly $200 000. This sum does not include the $550 000 already distributed in the regions as part of the 18th edition of the OSEntreprendre Challenge which attracted 36 200 participants in 2015-16. The event was attended by OSEntreprendre spokesman Dominique Brown, president of Chocolats Favoris; Lise Thériault, Deputy Premier, Minister responsible for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development, Minister responsible for the Status of Women and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region; Karine Vallières, Member for Richmond and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier (youth); Véronyque Tremblay, Member for Chauveau and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister for Rehabilitation, Youth Protection, Public Health and Healthy Lifestyles; André Drolet, Member for Jean-Lesage and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development; Raymond Bernier, Member for Montmorency and Alain Gagnon, vice-president, Agricultural and Agri-Food Sectors Division, Business Services, Desjardins Group, presenting partner of the event.

STUDENT ENTREPRENEURSHIP DIVISION
During the 18th edition, a total of 34 500 young people from educational institutions ranging from elementary to university level participated in 1 900 projects that enabled them to experience a genuine entrepreneurial process. The young people were guided by school staff who earnestly believe in the benefits of youth entrepreneurship, and they benefited from the unique experience of going through the local, regional and provincial selection processes. In carrying out their entrepreneurial projects, the winners strengthened their self-confidence, gained greater independence and discovered the pleasure of learning through entrepreneurship. They can be proud of their successes.

BUSINESS CREATION DIVISION
In 2015-2016, the OSEntreprendre Challenge received 1 100 projects submitted by 1 700 entrepreneurs. With the encouragement of regional players, these entrepreneurs went through the formative experience of local, regional and provincial selection by the respective juries. Courageous, persevering and determined, these prizewinners are making a difference by contributing to the development of their region. They are true sources of inspiration.
