MONTREAL, Nov. 11, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - With over 160 guests in attendance, the Ambassadors Gala provided the opportunity to celebrate the 83 graduates of the CPA, CMA and CPA, CMA-MBA executive programs and congratulate the recipients of the Fernand-Cloutier award and the QIC Award of Merit.
83 new graduates enrich the accounting profession in Quebec
During this prestigious evening, the Chair of the Order, Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, personally welcomed these new CPAs. "These men and women embody the values of integrity, excellence, rigour, commitment and openness that characterize our profession and enhance its visibility. Today, the accounting profession finds itself enriched by inspiring models who, thanks to their determination, know-how and management skills, are strongly positioned in the business world," said Mr. Robitaille.
The CPA, CMA and CPA, CMA-MBA executive programs offer practicing executives high-caliber training in management accounting. The training allows candidates to integrate the vision of a generalist to the leading-edge expertise of a specialist, making them front-ranking players in their organization's management, performance and strategic decision making.
Fernand-Cloutier Award
During this year's Ambassadors Gala, the CPA Order presented the Fernand-Cloutier award, which includes a $6,000 cash prize, to the team of executive program graduates that obtained the best results on the Report for the Board, the final stage of the CPA, CMA accreditation process. This year, the four recipients are graduates of the Université du Québec à Rimouski - Lévis campus. They are Jean Amyotte, CPA, CMA, Anne-Marie Elzaied, CPA, CMA, Michel Henry, CPA, CMA, and Anne O'Connor, CPA, CMA.
QIC Award of Merit
In recognition of his significant contribution to the visibility of the accounting profession in Quebec, Alain Côté, FCPA, FCA, Managing Partner, Quebec Region, at Deloitte, was presented with the Quebec Interprofessional Council Award of Merit. "Alain Côté has been involved on a number of Order committees over the years and played a key role in the unification of the three professional accounting orders. Therefore, it was only natural that he be awarded this distinction to highlight his remarkable contribution to the Order and to the professional system in Quebec," concluded Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the Order.
