TORONTO, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The Ontario Early Years, Bruce Grey Owen Sound, Markdale Site will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 26, 2012 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
At Ontario Early Years, children up to the age of six, their parents and caregivers can take part in programs and activities together. Parents and caregivers can also get information about their children's development and about services to support that development.
The Ontario Early Years, Bruce Grey Owen Sound, Markdale Site has forged a successful partnership with Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services to bring fire safety into the lives of its clients. Over the past several years, the Ontario Early Years has provided numerous opportunities for fire department staff to visit the centre and educate parents and caregivers about fire prevention and the importance of smoke alarms. They also deliver the Firefighters are your Friends program to the very young children to increase their comfort level in case they are confronted by firefighters in an emergency situation. Ontario Early Years members have often visited the fire hall for tours and presentations.
"The Ontario Early Years, Bruce Grey Owen Sound, Markdale Site and Grey Highlands Fire & Emergency Services are both trusted, community organizations," said Ted Wieclawek, Ontario Fire Marshal.
