Irving Oil contributes three acres towards future development of Northern New Brunswick's naval industry
BAS-CARAQUET, NB, March 17, 2014 /CNW/ - Northern New Brunswick's burgeoning naval industry is receiving strategic support from a company with decades of global shipping and marine experience. Irving Oil is donating just over three acres of key property to the New Brunswick Naval Centre in support of economic development efforts within the region.
Bas-Caraquet Mayor Agnès Doiron says the property is crucial to their future growth plans for the New Brunswick Naval Centre and key to attracting new businesses within the industry.
"As part of our economic development strategy, we're focused on expanding the potential of the Naval Centre," says Doiron. "We are so pleased Irving Oil recognizes our need to grow and is stepping in to support the expansion of the naval industry in Northern New Brunswick."
Michel Beaudry, President of the New Brunswick Naval Centre, says this additional property opens the doors for expansion efforts to begin. "This contribution from Irving Oil means we can begin planning for the construction of a marine training centre as well as office space and vessel storage."
Naval Centre Board Member Antonio Landry says the contribution comes at a significant time in their planning efforts. "Irving Oil's commitment to the betterment of our province is evidenced in so many ways and this contribution of a strategic parcel of land is another example of their ongoing commitment to the region."
