TORONTO, April 9, 2014 /CNW/ - The international Web Marketing Association has awarded content agency The Mark Studios the award for Best Online Video (financial services category) for its contribution to the acclaimed HSBC airport ad campaign.
The winning film, entitled "Building the Cities of the Future" is part of an ongoing series of articles, videos, info-graphics and live speaker events co-produced since 2011 by The Mark Studios, HSBC Bank Canada, and newspapers across Canada on the subject of emerging market growth.
"HSBC Bank Canada wanted to feature innovative solutions that are powering growth in emerging markets," says The Mark founder and CEO Jeff Anders. "Our filmmakers and journalists scoured the globe to find the right stories, and ultimately created this inspired short film."
Filmed in the bamboo forests of Bali, Indonesia, and at the Future Cities Laboratory in Singapore, the video shows how bamboo could be used to cost-effectively and sustainably build future cities in developing countries.
The video is not an advertisement for HSBC, but it does serve a powerful marketing function by reinforcing HSBC as a global thought leader on emerging market growth.
"HSBC is among the most forward-thinking brands when it comes to using non-advertising content to attract and convert qualified leads," says Meaghan Kappel, Director of Client Services at The Mark Studios.
The film has been viewed by 4.2 million people on TV screens at Toronto's Pearson International Airport and, at the time of publication, it had fetched 250,000 views on YouTube from where 16,000+ people clicked on to www.hsbc.ca for more information.
