THE LAST BREATH
AT THE HEART OF THE HÔTEL-DIEU DE MONTRÉAL
A film by Annabel Loyola
In Quebec theatres on April 7
MONTREAL, March 29, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - As Montreal celebrates the 375th anniversary of its foundation, the documentary feature The Last Breath, at the Heart of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, directed by Annabel Loyola and produced by Amazone Film, will open soon in several cities throughout Quebec.
Founded by Jeanne Mance in 1642 at the same time as the city, the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, on the eve of its 375th anniversary, is about to disappear, to be replaced by the new CHUM. The Last Breath immerses us in an enclosed world where life, death, love and friendship coexist in close proximity. This film is above all a tale of courage and resilience, the story of its final occupants.
The Last Breath, at the Heart of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal opens on April 7, in its original French version at Cinémathèque québécoise (Montreal), Cinéma Cartier (Quebec City), and La Maison du cinéma (Sherbrooke), and with English subtitles at Cinéma du Parc (Montreal). The film will also screen at Pavillon Wilson – Vent-Arts (Côteau-du-Lac) on Wednesday, April 12, and at Paraloeil (Rimouski) on Tuesday, April 18. Some screenings and Q&As will be hosted by the filmmaker.
Annabel Loyola produced and directed the feature documentary A Mad Venture, in the Footsteps of Jeanne Mance, which earned her the Médaille de la Société historique de Montréal in 2010 and contributed to the recognition of Jeanne Mance as founder of Montreal in 2012. The Last Breath, at the Heart of the Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal is her second feature documentary.
Produced by Amazone Film and distributed by Arabesque Films, it will air later on Canal D.
