The federal government is investing in the renovation and modernization of the Paul-Émile-Lépine Community Centre

L'ÎLE-PERROT, QC, Oct. 26, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Paul-Émile-Lépine Community Centre will be renovated to provide residents of L'Île-Perrot with a modern gathering place tailored to the community's needs for hosting community and social activities, thanks to an investment of more than $8.4 million from the federal government under the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program (GICB).

The announcement was made by Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil, and Marc Deslauriers, Mayor of L'Île-Perrot.

The investment announced today will enable several organizations working in various sectors--such as sports, culture, activities for seniors, and support for people struggling with addiction--to continue providing quality services to their clients in a more user-friendly, accessible, and energy-efficient building.

The work includes, among other things, a complete roof overhaul, replacement of exterior doors and windows, insulation of the walls and attic, renovation of the restrooms, repair of the exterior wall cladding, replacement of the heating systems, as well as replacement of the french drain and waterproofing of the foundation. There are also plans to install universal access features for people with limited mobility and the visually impaired.

Once renovated, the building will continue to serve as a venue for citizens to participate in various community activities as well as social and family events, with a reduced environmental footprint and improved accessibility.
