NEWMARKET, ON, April 9, 2019 /CNW/ - Neil Paton, Partner, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Edge Benefits, announced today the launch of some significant enhancements to their industry leading Critical Illness product as well as a new Child Critical Illness Rider.
"Critical Illness insurance is a valuable product for all Canadians, providing peace of mind by helping to minimize the financial hardship from a sudden and unexpected illness while they recover" says Paton. "With the rate of disabilities and the cost of treatment both on the rise, we are making it even easier for people to help get the protection they need without the underwriting headaches associated with many traditional Critical Illness Plans."
Historically, the product provided $25,000 of coverage for the 23 covered conditions with no medical questions asked, and an additional $75,000 available with underwriting. Effective April 1st, the Guaranteed Issue portion is doubled to $50,000 with no medical questions required, with an additional $50,000, now available with Simplified Underwriting, bringing the total coverage available to $100,000, all without any family history underwriting.
"In addition, we are introducing a new Child Critical Illness Rider of $10,000 with the same comprehensive 23 covered conditions, plus four additional covered conditions: Cerebral Palsy, Cystic Fibrosis, Down's Syndrome, and Muscular Dystrophy.
"This is a great opportunity for Advisors to review the needs of their clients, to make sure their coverage is adequate, and that they have sufficient illness protection," says Paton. "It is yet another example of how we Advocate on behalf of our clients and advisors, striving to provide more and more reasons for them to make The Edge Benefits their first choice for benefits."
