MONTREAL, Aug. 25, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - In just one month today, some 35,000 runners will take to the streets of Montreal for the 2016 Rock 'n' Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon. With the event now in its 26th edition, the enthusiasm surrounding the race has only grown: "The 10k race is already full, and the full and half-marathon are close to capacity. The marathon, which is the biggest challenge with 42.2 km, is more popular than ever. Over 4,500 runners will be on the starting line for that distance this year !" proudly says Dominique Arsenault, the spokesperson for the Rock 'n' Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon.
Montreal's running community is more vibrant than ever and this year's edition will reflect this community dimension even further. The musical lineup, a signature touch of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, will feature local choirs, dj's and dance troops in addition to 23 bands, headlined by Canadian band Our Lady Peace, who will give a free show at the finish line in Lafontaine Park at around 12:40. All will be rocking out to motivate runners and visitors.
Among the 10 groups running to raise awareness and funds to charity causes, a group of Montreal Canadiens players' wives will be taking on the half-marathon to raise funds for the Montreal Canadiens' Children Foundation. Étudiants dans la course (Students in the Race), will also be participating, after a 10-month mentoring program designed to inspire at-risk youth to tackle personal challenges such as the marathon.
A family adventure, an individual challenge, the energy of such a huge event - every reason is a great reason to want to cross the finish line! Athletes, amateurs and supporters are invited to experience this unique race that offers five courses, including the most popular half-marathon in Canada. Hurry!

About the Rock 'n' Roll Montreal Oasis Marathon
In 2016 the Rock 'n' Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon will be celebrating the 26th edition of the Montreal Marathon.
