MONTRÉAL, Nov. 10, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - In the spring of 2016, the Casino de Montréal and Espacejeux.com will host one of the World Series of Poker's (WSOP) events, the only Canadian stop on this prestigious circuit.
"We are very proud that the WSOP, the organizer of the biggest poker event in the world, has selected the Casino de Montréal for this event and places its trust in us to manage such a high-calibre poker event," said Kevin Taylor, General Manager of the Casino de Montréal and the Société des casinos du Québec's Head of Operations.
The Montréal stop on the WSOP circuit will allow poker fans to compete for one of the 12 exclusive rings up for grabs. Ten tournaments will be played at the Casino de Montréal between April 20 and May 1, 2016, while two tournaments will be held on Espacejeux.com on May 7 and 8, 2016. The events will be preceded by qualification satellite tournaments held in Québec's four casinos and the Espacejeux.com online gaming site. The tournament schedule will be published later.
Since it was launched in 1970, the WSOP has become the most recognizable poker event in the world. Its tournaments bring together almost 80,000 players who compete for a share of the impressive prize and the WSOP bracelet, veritable icon of poker excellence.
