The Canadian Society for Microbiologists supports science in Canada

OTTAWA, Sept. 17, 2013 /CNW/ - Microbiology has a tremendous impact on the lives of Canadians. Increasing antibiotic resistance, maintaining safe food, and environmental matters are only a few of the major issues we need more knowledge of to keep our citizens healthy and prosperous. To devise smarter ways to resolve problems associated with microbes, we encourage the Canadian government to support microbiology research in Canada. There is an urgent need to increase funding in science to deliver an aggressive fundamental and applied research agenda.  Support for Canadian science students to pursue graduate studies will keep Canada at the forefront of world microbiology expertise.
