The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation Welcomes End of Labour
Dispute: Museums Resume Full Operations

GATINEAU, QC, Dec. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (CMCC) today welcomes the end of the 12 week-long strike of many of its employees. The strike of Public Service Alliance of Canada members began on September 21.

"We have concluded a negotiated agreement between the parties that is fair and reasonable," said Elizabeth Goger, Vice-President of Human Resources and lead negotiator for the Museums.

This agreement was reached through negotiations, reflecting CMCC's commitment to face-to-face discussions, compromise and mutual understanding. It will allow us to move forward with our common goal: the continued success and excellence of the Canadian Museum of Civilization and the Canadian War Museum as essential Canadian cultural institutions.

Throughout the strike, both Museums remained open and attracted thousands of foreign and Canadian visitors. Starting tomorrow, the Museums will resume full operations in their production and administrative areas.

"We know that our employees and managers combine great skills and a commitment to meeting the mandates of our public institutions," said Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation. "Tomorrow, we begin to return to normal work conditions. We look forward with delight to welcoming many thousands of visitors to our extraordinary buildings and to our compelling line-up of exhibitions and programs."
