The Canadian Internet Registration Authority deploys new anycast DNS service to help protect online businesses from cyber attacks Français
Made-in-Canada solution helps reduce the risk of DDoS attacks and improves website and web application performance in the Canadian market
TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Today at SECTOR, Canada's IT security conference, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) announced the launch of D-Zone Anycast DNS (D-Zone), a new service that will help organizations reduce the impact of malicious attacks to their DNS (domain name system) infrastructure.
CIRA's D-Zone is a secondary DNS service featuring two anycast clouds comprised of 22 nodes installed in a global network of Internet exchange points. The high performance, fault tolerance and reliability of the architecture helps to keep websites and other cloud applications continuously available on the Internet.
"DNS is a mission critical service and the impact of a DNS outage can be devastating to an organization," said Dave Chiswell, vice president of product development at CIRA. "Our D-Zone solution will add an important option to IT managers' toolkit, allowing them to leverage CIRA's DNS expertise to help protect their online operations."
Attacks against a company's DNS infrastructure can be costly and represent a pressing threat to organizations that do business online. According to a 2014 industry survey from Arbor Networks, one-third of respondents had faced a customer-impacting DDoS attack on their DNS infrastructure.
This has led Webnames.ca, a leading Canadian domain name registration and hosting company to select CIRA's D-Zone solution for its forthcoming Premium DNS services, slated for launch in Q1 2015.
