QUÉBEC, Jan. 4, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Québec Port Authority (QPA) is pleased to note that the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA) finds the Beauport 2020 project's environmental impact assessment meets its standards and is immediately launching public consultations and a technical analysis of the assessment. The QPA also takes this opportunity to announce that a public presentation day for its environmental impact assessment will take place on January 16, from noon to 8:30 p.m., at the Cruise Terminal.
The environmental impact assessment prepared by Englobe is some 1,500 pages long, in addition to 10,000 pages of in-depth studies, and is now being subjected to an extensive public consultation organized by the CEAA. The QPA invites interested groups and residents to participate in this consultation.
To facilitate this stage of the process, and in parallel with the activities organized by the CEAA, the QPA will hold a public presentation day for the environmental impact assessment on January 16. The Cruise Terminal's doors will be open to interested groups and residents from noon to 8:30 p.m. QPA representatives will be on hand to present the various sections of the environmental impact assessment.
"Beauport 2020 will enable the creation of a new environmentally responsible space for development and the consolidation and enhancement of the Beauport Bay recreational and tourist site. This is a growth-generating project for the greater Québec-Lévis community. The Québec Port Authority invites residents to take part in this public consultation," said QPA President and CEO Mario Girard.

- Construction of a retaining dike, vegetated embankment and breakwater to secure port operations, consolidate and ensure the sustainability of the Beauport Bay beach, and protect the aquatic environment of the southwest re-entrant
