Canadians have a dozen places to say 'I do' in tropical paradise
TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - The Bahamas is proving to be a tropical magnet for couples looking to get married on 12.12.12.
With the last triple-digit day of the century, Bahamas resorts say December 12, 2012 is expected to be one of their busiest days of the year for weddings.
"Couples love the numerically significant dates, especially ones that involve triple consecutives," said Anna Schmid, Vice President of Weddings and Special Affairs for Atlantis Resort/One&Only Ocean Club. "12.12.12 is not only easy to remember, there is also an air of good luck surrounding the memorable date."
"At Atlantis, we're geared up for 12.12.12 months in advance and usually have to turn away couples that waited too long to start planning. This year, we sold out 12.12.12 by the end of the summer and still receive several calls each week," Schmid said.
In the US, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has launched a promotion with NBC's Today Show for a 12.12.12 wedding or honeymoon "do over". The "I Do…Over - Bahamas Getaway" contest calls on American married couples to submit a photo and essay explaining how their wedding or honeymoon did not go as planned and why they deserve a do over in The Bahamas.
In celebration of the last memorable date of the century, here are 12 places to get married in The Bahamas on 12.12.12 or any day of the year:
